Jaywick Open
Working with artists Mark Storor, Mia Taylor and Anna Hart, Sarah Cole has led this research project, with students, staff and alumni from Central St Martins developing ideas in response to the seaside town of Jaywick, Essex.
Funded by Essex County Council Public Health, and in conversation with Essex Creative Health Network, we have returned annually, developing relationships with many local people and partners, including:
Jaywick Martello Tower, Essex Peddle Power, Inclusion Ventures, Jaywick Community and Resources Centre, Sandy's Farm, Sir Martin Frobisher Academy, The Never Say Die pub, Sun Yao Chinese takeaway, Dig 4 Jaywick Community Gardens, Jaywick Bee Keeping Society, The Jaywick Sands Singers, Dance Network Association, The Jaywick Sands Walking Group, Rainy Bakes cafe, the Environment Agency, local artist Jane Stewart, musician David Brown and many more.
