a-n Artists Bursary 2020

Sarah Cole and Annis Joslin have been awarded an a-n Artist Bursary, to develop new skills in making 360 video. They have a residency at FuseBox, Wired Sussex and are seeking to develop their collaboration by creating a VR experience from their work, Messy Business.

Teatro aplicado

This new publication has been compiled by Maria Fukelman, for Collection Ciencias Del Arte. It includes an essay written by Dr Sally Mackay, with Sarah Cole, about NEST - a three-year project, led by Sarah, in a primary school in Basildon, made with artists, dancers and composers.

The front cover is from the Airing Cupboard, a performance element developed by Mark Storor in this promenade one-day event.

Messy Business

The Usual

Throughout 2019 Sarah has been project managing The Usual with artist Mark Storor and nine BA Fine Art students from Central Saint Martins, UAL, in the small seaside town of Jaywick. Funded by Essex Council. 

New work is now being planned for 2020

Last year, the students work was shown around the town on Saturday 8th June 2019. Mark Storor's work, made with local residents and photographer Stephen King, was installed on the weekend of 25 - 27 October 2019, with eight large images hung around the the exterior of Jaywick Martello Tower

Making Space - Fabrica - March 2019

Sarah Cole and Annis Joslin spent four days in this church space in Brighton, experimenting with images and ideas developed during Messy Business. Eight videos were installed, along with objects, drawings and audio narratives, with an audience invited to view the work and participate in an 'in conversation' with the artists at the end of the week.
